  • February 4: Costume deposits due to RDC

Costume details:

  • RDC staff take dancer’s measurements in class. Our teachers choose the costumes for each class and then we size them carefully and order everything your dancer needs!
  • Dancers will get a different costume for each of their classes. If you’re enrolled in a combo class (Ballet/Tap, Hip Hop/Acro) your dancer will do two dances and they’ll get a 2 in 1 costume for one cost.
  • There is a $70 per class costume deposit due up front that has been posted to your account. The actual costs of each costume are reconciled after we order them and your account will be charged for any additional costs or credited for any difference in March.
  • We work to keep costs down and our deposit amount is set at $70 to hopefully cover all costume costs.
  • Costume, tights and accessories are included with your costume purchase.
  • Families are responsible for shoes and any costume alterations needed.
  • You will own these costumes and although it’s a LOT of money for an outfit they are going to wear only a few times, most of our dancers wear them for several years after for dress up, costume weeks at RDC and other things!

2023 recital Details

Our recitals will be held on Saturday, May 27 & Sunday, May 28, 2023!

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Is the recital mandatory? 99% of our dancers perform in the recital, but it’s certainly not mandatory. Dance is a performing art, so this is part of the dance curriculum and is definitely encouraged. We liken the performance at the end of the year like a big sports or playoff game after months of practicing/playing. You wouldn’t practice soccer all year and never play a game, right? Same for dance.
  • Who participates? All of our classes, even the 3-4 year old’s and the adults participate!
  • How many performances will there be? We’ll have 3-4 performances between Saturday mid-morning, May 27th and Sunday evening, May 28th. The number of performances will be determined by the total number of dancers we have.
  • Will my dancer be in every show? The number of classes your dancer takes will determine how many shows they will be in. If you’re registered for one class, your dancer will likely only be in one show – either Saturday or Sunday.
  • What are the costs? Besides the cost of costumes and photos (if you choose to purchase), the only other cost is for the performance tickets. Tickets will go on sale in early May and the ticket cost will be between $18-$22 each
  • How many people can I invite? We’ll likely need to put a limit on the number of audience members per dancer, so we can ensure we have enough space for everyone, so stay tuned for that!
  • Why is performing important? We take a lot of time learning these dances, practicing them and helping your dancer prepare to perform. We will start learning these dances in January/February and then work in class all the way through the week before the show to make sure your dancer feels confident. We not only learn and practice the steps, we also talk about and practice performance qualities, entrances and exits, bows, spacing and stage directions, all while making sure your dancer feels safe and supported! We have at least two times for each dancer to practice their dance in front of people before the actual shows. We see our dancers grow SO MUCH during this time!!

Recital Week Schedules & Info

  • Recital Pictures: We hire a professional photographer to come in and take photos of your dancers in their costumes. You’re under no obligation to take photos or to purchase photos, until after you see them.
  • Dress rehearsals: These are mandatory to ensure that all of our dancers are prepared to be on stage. Your schedule will be different
  • Your dancer will only need to be at ONE picture day/time and ONE dress rehearsal day/time. Each class is assigned a time slot. The detailed schedules for our picture days, dress rehearsals and performances between May 20-May 28th (all listed above in important dates), will be completed and posted/emailed in early April.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 – Recital pictures!
  • The week of Monday, May 22 – Friday, May 26th: Your dancers schedule will be different this week. Your dancer will NOT need to be there all days/times this week. Each class will have their own pre-assigned day and time for their combined classes and dress rehearsal.
    • Monday, May 22 & Friday, May 26, 3-10pm: Mandatory dress rehearsals at IKEA PAC for levels 1-5 (ages 7+)
    • Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24, 3-8pm: Mandatory in-studio dress rehearsals for ages 3-7 (Pre-ballet & combo classes)
    • Thursday, May 25: RDC CLOSED for Recital Prep
    • SATURDAY, MAY 27 & SUNDAY, MAY 28: RECITALS! (show times TBD, but will be between 11am-9pm. Detailed recital schedules will be posted by mid-April).

Regular classes will resume after the recital on Tuesday May 30, and go through June 17, 2023!
